Probably never. Because you’re not meant to.
You can’t go back to who you were before because she no longer exists.

Change is the WHOLE point. The greatest phenomenon of your life will be your rebirth through matresence.

Let’s talk about pain free birth bc this whole idea of prepping for labor so it’s pain free is completely asinine to me.

Pain free will not be the reality for most women. So what are we doing selling this dream? We’re creating unrealistic expectations and massive disappointment.

Fundal massages… here’s what you need to know.

First and foremost, they are optional.

A fundal massage is when a nurse or provider presses firmly on the top of your uterus through your abdomen after your baby is born. The goal is to help the uterus contract down and reduce the risk of excessive bleeding.

They typically happen in the first hour after birth, especially if you birthed in a hospital and particularly if you received Pitocin or other medications for active management of the placenta. You may feel them every 15 minutes at first, then less frequently as your uterus firms up.

Here’s what matters:

• They can be uncomfortable. Sometimes very.
• You deserve to be told before someone touches you.
• You deserve to consent before it happens.
• You can ask what they’re checking for.
• You can ask them to go slower.
• You can ask for a pause.

If your uterus is already firm and bleeding is within normal range, you can absolutely ask whether continued massage is necessary.

Informed consent does not disappear once the baby is born.

Does motherhood come with its own set of unique challenges?
Yes.

Is it really that hard?
Not for me.

Why? Because up until a year ago, I kept listening to everyone talking about how hard it all was. The mental load, raising two toddlers, keeping up with the house. This is hard, that is hard, everything is hard hard hard! And you know what? I ONLY EVER THOUGHT ABOUT HOW HARD AND SUCKY IT ALL WAS!

And it was this constant thing in my brain - until I took a good hard look at the words I was saying about my every day experience. The assumption I was making about how my life was unfolding. I was quite literally aging myself via the stress of my ‘hard day’ expectations.

And then I started making moment to moment, day to day, conscious efforts to tell@my brain to stop being a little bitch. Motherhood is not that hard. The only person that was putting pressure on me to get everything right was me. But it’s not that serious. And once I took that pressure off, put my freaking phone down and STOPPED saying how hard it all was - guess what?

Life got pretty swell. Do we still have tears, some yelling and challenging moments? Yes. Do we get over it much faster now and move on and just have fun? Yes.

Because WHATS THE POINT if you’re not having FUN?!

I wish every woman leaving their corporate career to become a stay at home knew this because I did NOT.

There was a serious grieving process that happened when I left behind the last part of maiden identity. My corporate career was something I was really proud of. I was clearing multiple six figures, worked for the biggest tech companies in the world, and was able to prove my worth outside of motherhood.

But it became so apparent when every day, I would wake up for work, and I would dread missing an entire day with my kids. I was missing out on milestones, and by the time work ended I was so stressed that I felt like I couldn’t even enjoy our final hours together before bedtime.

Despite my knowing that being home full time with my kids was what I wanted (and of course doula-ing), I was not prepared for how that transition would feel. Especially because there was no warm up. I went from working 5 days a week for 35-40hrs to being with my kids 24/7.

So is being a SAHM for you? Probably! Will there be a transition that feels really challenging at first? Probably! Will it be worth it? Definitely.
